Twin Cities-based Swervo Development has officially announced that Live Nation, which is the largest concert promoter in the world, will operate the 19,000-seat amphitheater being built near Canterbury Park, according to Kare 11.
The new amphitheater is part of a redevelopment district that will include hotels, food and entertainment.
The venue is set to have fixed seating for 11,000 and lawn space that should hold 8,000 more and is expected to host approximately 30 events each summer concert season starting in 2025.
Swervo said, in an official statement, that the amphitheater will provide “breathtaking 360-degree views of the Minnesota River Valley,” and feature “an intimate, covered lower bowl with prime seating, an elevated lawn, and expansive hangout spaces both indoors and outside for fans to enjoy.”
“We’re committed to build spaces that support the community and energize the economy, while providing entertainment, and are excited to bring this vision alive for Shakopee and the Twin Cities region,” president and chief executive officer of Swervo Development Ned Abdul said in the release.
